Self Reflection after Each Completed Project

April 22, 2011 Leave a comment

Every time I completed one project, I reflected on what I have learnt and tell myself that I will be alot better than I was when I am doing the next project so that there will always be a better project each time after each project has been completed.

Don’t let your player wait!

Letting your player wait for things to happen is like dropping them off halfway through the game, especially when your game gets too hard to load or doesn’t present a visual cue for the player to carry on with the game. Either your player gets confused cos nothing is happening on the screen, or the visual cues you presented are far too tiny to be noticed.

No one draws from imagination

I quote the above from one of my professors in one of the modules he taught me. He was asking the class if there is anything in particular which we would like him to share with us. I raised my hand and asked if he could teach us drawing, character design to be specific. Then in the middle of the discussion I triggered, he gave me a piece of advice, “no one draws from imagination” which I totally agree.

When you were still a small kid, the teachers will always tell you to imagine when you draw. The imaginations that we all have are really only memories of the things we saw in the past and by imagining, we are merely taking those things we saw as references for our works. A combination of references is what gives images a new look. If you need an example, just imagine putting a pan in the hands of a warrior in a modern day airport
